Analysis of Changes of the 2012 to the 2018 International Residential Code (7 credits)
Speaker: Greg Karow, Code Educational Opportunities
This 1 day presentation will address the substantial changes from the 2012 through the 2018 IRC. Included will be the current 2012 language and changes to the 2015 IRC which is integrated into the 2018 IRC.
Items to be covered will include, but not limited to, the introduction of tiny homes into the code, lofts and mezzanines in dwelling units, expanded prescriptive application for decks and revised joist spans for decks.
Changes will be formatted into an easy side by side comparison of the current code and the new code as well as commentary to assist in the informational process. Illustrations and case studies will be implemented to provide additional clarity to the provisions. The intended audience is building inspectors, building officials, designers, architects, and others with a vested interest in the construction code industry. This seminar will focus on the model codes and will contain proposed MN state amendments.
**This class has been approved by the MN Department of Labor & Industry for continuing education for residential building contractors, remodelers, roofers and building officials.
